Umbra's Ascend Soundtrack
I got asked to do a few songs for the soundtrack of a game that has yet to be released called "Umbra's Ascend" I mostly created the music you are about to hear by chopping up samples that i had found and manipulating them within my DAW. I mostly took on the project because I wanted to explore the process of creating songs that are meant to be infinitly replayable and do not follow conventional song structures. The game itself is a 2D platformer where you play as the Hero "Umbra" whom is trying to save his lover who has suddenly dissapeared.
What you saw was the intro to the story and to the game itself. I attempted to make the music align with what was visable on the screen
The Plains is the first area of the game and introduces the player to the mechanics
The Cobble is a step up from the plains yet remains quite peaceful and calm, i tried to represent the atmosphere of a cave by imitating tribal sounds and rocks clashing into eachother
As the player progresses trough the game the areas they explore get progressively more grim and sometimes even unsettling, The Bog is one of the first areas in the game where that is made clear both visually and trough its music
In conclusion i had quite a lot of fun making music for a client and stepping out of my comfort zone, i hope to work further on this project and i am eager to see how the game will shape up to be in the end
