For this school assignment i had to do some branding/marketing for an imaginary shoe brand called "Bold Rebel". I ended up brainstorming and designing a the brand after mix of japanese punk scene logo's/designs and the opium hip hop scene. I also took inspiration from trypophobia in the shoebox design. The combination of the conventional bold font and a more customised metal esque "Rebel" text, gives for a contrasting logo which is meant to express the feeling of standing out and rebelling against the norm.

For the shoebox itself i had decided on a proof of concept to make the shoebox stand out more from other shoe brands to get a unique experience with each unboxing. The concept involves A shoebox with 2 layers, the top layer has holes in them (at random) and a cutout for the logo section. The inner layer has a unique design depending on the shoe that is sold. As an example i have made 2 variants, one i call the Blood Variant (the red shoebox) and a Money Variant (the green shoebox). Both would have a different shoe inside of them and the inner layer would have a different texture, the Money Variant would have a more softer texture whereas the Blood Variant would have a more sticky rougher texture to it.

For the instagram mockup i decided build upon the style of the shoebox yet retain the professionalism and concistency that most brands have. I came up with the slogan "Be Bold, Break the Mold" which in my opinion encaptulates the identity of the brand quite well.

The target audience i am trying to reach for this brand is mostly a subculture of alternative music listeners, more specificially the "opium" and the "6th wave emo" movements. These audiences are generally Gen Z (14-26 years old), have specific alternative music taste and most importantly are into fashion pieces that stand out and are concidered "emo" and "Punk according to the masses. These people generally feel like they are different from the rest and their fashion senses compliment that. By implementing the trypophobia, gore and street elements in the designs, it speaks for the target audience specifically well.

This is why I think incorporating the music aspect into the brand would be a perfect fit. The concept would be that there will be monthly community music showcases where up and coming artists can submit their music for a chance to be showcased in the monthly showcase. There would also be a discord where people in the community can interract with eachother and give their feedback over new drops. Not only will this build a strong community but also will bring exposure to the brand and other people who would fit the target audience which would result in more sales. Above you see a template of how those songs would be showcased, this would be in the form of an instagram post and story.
